WEEK #4

Waist Bag

I would like to design and create a waist bag for a friend of mine. I'm trying to think about expandable designs.
It has to be light, resistant and waterproof.

After some rough sketches I tried to start modeling using CLO3D. Next time I have to go to a shop and take measurements of an existing bag. It will be easier to understand the patterns.

3D Patterns for 3D Printing Testing

Fluorite Cubic atom structure Lattice (using nTopology)

Diamond Cubic carbon structure Lattice

Side by side

And Voronoi. I've successfully found a way to create a Voronoi structure only using C4D.
I can tweak the distribution using functions but not too much.

Love hate relationship with this fucking machine

Jewelry/practice drawings

WEEK #3

Vacuum Forming

I took the vacuum forming machine class. It can be interesting to make molds or any other low res copy of objects, 3D prints for example.

So here are some videos to learn to use the machine

Machine description:
Formech 686PT
Size: 100*100 or 300*300mm
Depth: 325mm
Material maximum thickness: 6.35mm
Materials: Plastic, acrylic, ABS

CNC Vinyl Cutter

I also took the CNC vinyl cutter class. I don't really know if this machine is going to be useful tho.
And I did not really understand the explanations. Maybe be cool to cut reflective adhesive.

Machine description:
Graphtec CE6000-60
Size: 603mm*50m / 0.25mm
Software: Cutting Master 3

Laser Cutter

Machine description:
Universal Laser Systems VLS 3.50
Size: 600*450mm / 5mm max

Very easy to use, very precise compare to IDAS and digital focus. Specially good for engraving.

3D Printers

Machine description:
Sindoh DP200 3DWox
Size: 200*200*200mm
Software: 3DWox

I didn't really understand how to change filament, I think I have to call the staff.
I'd like to use the elastic filaments of IDAS into these machines.

And print different lattices to test their damping performances.

WEEK #2

This week I took a digital embroidery class. I surely will find something to do with it.

This machine is useful to make some kinds of advanced stitching patterns.

This second machine is CNC embroidery. It's good to put your logo as you can see.
The last pictures are more for me to remember the process.

WEEK #1

For this "Independent Study" class, I'll do every week different experiences and I'll follow classes at https://www.digital-blacksmithshop.com

I already visited the place here are some pictures :

There are a lot of different machines and tool all for free. It's incredible.

Here is a list of all their classes and the usual schedule.
